Sony Pictures Is Developing A Morbius The Living Vampire Spin

Digital artist Evan Pennock created an image featuring Jared Leto as a comic-accurate Spider-Man villain, Morbius. Spider-man has been a real bone of contention in the world of comic book movie adaptations. But unlike the set photo Leto himself posted from last March, this glimpse showed us the actor fully done up as Marvel Comics' Living Vampire - and fan reaction seems to be leaning solidly toward the positive.

Although Morbius has definitely been a tragic character since the beginning, like Venom, he was initially depicted as a straightforward super villain for Spider-Man. But since Spidey is still a Sony property , for now, there is a possibility that he can show up in a couple of Sony's Marvel movies, too.

Interestingly enough, Tyrese posted a screenshot from the Morbius trailer on his Instagram on Monday of the "In Association With Marvel" image, but it should be noted that isn't the Marvel Studios logo (actually Kevin Feige is in charge of all of Marvel movies, TV and comics now, so it remains to be seen if Feige will be keeping Marvel Studios as a separate brand).

The studio has had blockbuster success partnering with Disney on the release of its Tom Holland-starring Spider-Man” movies (last summer's Far From Home” crossed one billion dollars at the worldwide box office), and it managed to find a new franchise with Tom Hardy's Venom” in 2018.

Rumor has it that this could be Emil Nikos, which would be interesting, because in the comics, Nikos is Michael Morbius' best The Marvel Cinematic Universe friend, a position being occupied by Loxias Crown on the big screen. And it turns out that Jared Leto's lead character is going to have a variety of superheroic abilities to use during his upcoming origin story.

The film will focus on Dr. Michael Morbius, who in the process of curing himself and others afflicted with a rare blood diseases uses technology to experiment on himself only to turn himself into a vampire, a living one. Not only did it tease some of what we should expect from Morbius himself, but some hints and clues as to where the Sony Spider-Man universe may shake out in the post-Disney acquisition world.
